Le Fournil de l'ânier

Construction bakehouse and furnace

I was to find a place in order to establish a rather vast bakehouse and a furnace of 6 m2. After having reviewed the various existing buildings I realize quickly that it there with step possibility of being operational quickly.

Two buildings on the court exist, old a soue with pig with a roof with four slopes and old to rough-hew very old.
After many measurements I decide to make a furnace with loud-voiced person in the soue with pig and to join together it with roughing-hew which will be transformed into bakehouse.

Beginning of work at the end of 2004 which starts with the demolition of the existing walls and the replacement of the pillars which support the three firm ones. I adopt the solution to leave the three firm ones in place, to support them in order to remake the pillars on the spot.
I increased each side of 2 meters which I gain on a face on the garden or I assemble two meters of walls in breeze block. Other side I go up the stone wall.
Then repair of the roof with the projection on the soue with pig and the installation of a cover in bèton on the ground.

May 2005 beginning of the manufacture of the furnace with loud-voiced person. The building existing already, I filled it of a mixture of rubble and fill in order to make a cover of 15 cm armed with 90cm height. I make the circumference of the furnace with flagstones of 33 cm furnace high fixed with a mixture of lime, cement, sand, ground of brick and water.

To produce the furnace I it filled with sand at the bottom on one meter. Previously I put ten centimetres of sand on the cover where I posed my flagstones well flat. I block sand by a plate of the same form as the interior of the furnace. With a plate out of wooden I carry out the shape of the vault which I pass on sand. Then I pose my vertical bricks with the same mixture as for the flagstones as I cross according to the slope of the vault. Progressively I move back the plate and I filled space by sand that I modéle with the plate out of wooden. Naturally I position both will ouras manufacture local at the two ends of the bottom of the furnace at the same time as arch bricks.

Then creation of a conduit of chimney to connect both will ouras, creation of the brick hearth under the furnace.

Pose door, completion interior, tiling, electricity, water and pre-heating of the furnace in February 2006.

Since the furnace functions every Thursday.
